Our club use bidding slips and it is standard practice by many players to mark the slips with the dealer and vulnerability.
The other day a player bid out of turn due to the slip being incorrectly marked.
Do they have any redress as it was nit their team that marked the bidding slip incorrectly.
Some players also note the opening lead on the bidding slip, handy for transcribing on to the traveller at the end of the hand.( Even though we have been on bridgemates for six months,)
Are their any regulations that cover this ?

Clubs can generally make their own regulations in such matters: if your club mandates that someone should write these on the slip then they are official and getting them wrong could lead to redress for an opponent who is damaged.

If my memory serves me right, it was an old habit which is no longer followed in Australia in general.  Thus, unless your club has such a regulation as above, then it should generally be ignored as a meaningless diversion, and I do not see redress being given.

Unless this is the 'direction' from the Club, making the vul / non-vul and dealer are the old way and this is not official.  Hence, the player should refer to the boards for yourself.  Do the wrong thing because of the wrong marking is the responsibility of the player, not the one who mark the bidding pad.

ABF written bidding regulations:
Quote2.5   The Director may apply a procedural penalty to a player who marks the written bidding sheet incorrectly. Nevertheless, it is the responsibility of all players to know and to use the dealer and vulnerability marked on the board: players who take action based on a written bidding sheet that is marked incorrectly have no recourse.

Matthew McManus

The Director should apply the ABF Written Bidding Regulations, unless the club has a different regulation for dealing with this. In that case, the club's regulation will take precedence.
